The Office of Research Development at Johns Hopkins University promotes and encourages collaborative research across disciplines, schools, and institutions by assisting project teams with large-scale proposal development. The office helps Johns Hopkins faculty develop, edit, and submit competitive grant proposals.

Get Support

Large-Scale Proposal Support

Full pre-award management for multidisciplinary and collaborative grant applications — typically large center, program project, and cooperative agreement proposals (e.g., NIH P01/P30, U19/U54).

  • Coordination and project management of the pre-award phase
  • Grant writing and graphic design support
  • Templates and guidance for federal proposal sections

Best for: team-based proposals, normally greater than $5 million.

Editorial Assistance

Free editorial support for grant proposals and journal articles, open to all JHU faculty from every school, division, and rank. Includes line editing, copyediting, and developmental editing.

  • Bring proposals within word- and character-count limits
  • Improve clarity, structure, and competitiveness
  • Returns both tracked-changes and clean versions

Best for: individual proposals and manuscripts (no minimum award).

Find Funding and Apply

Limited Submissions: opportunities that cap the number of applicants JHU may submit; view open competitions and apply via the internal process.
Funding Opportunities: internal and external sources, including early-career, postdoctoral, and graduate opportunities.
Funding Search Tools: databases such as GrantForward and other curated resources.
Office of Foundation Relations: support for faculty pursuing funding from private foundations, including strategy and proposal coordination with foundation funders.
