Fibi notifications are driven by roles in departments. The system is designed to notify all department users and mirrors functionality that was in Coeus.
Notifications cannot differentiate between proposals created by one aggregator and those created by other aggregators in the same unit(s). This design historically has been the standard in order to allow users to work collaboratively and cover others’ work when necessary.
Users can opt out of certain notifications in Fibi. See the ORIS notes at our homepage to see how to do this.
Or, it is possible to build an Outlook rule to move other units’ messages to another folder.
Alternatively, roles can be removed from units in which a user doesn’t actively work. For example, if a unit has 20 child units, and they typically work in only three of them, that user probably still has the aggregator role in all of the children, rather than just those three. Therefore, that user will receive notifications for all PDs created by all people in all 20 units.
ORIS highly recommends altering a user’s roles if their activities are limited to only a few units.
